Over a span of three decades, Ardean Landhuis has amassed over 300 professional production credits in the areas of Lighting Design, Scenic Design, Technical Direction, Stage Management, Opera Performance and Stage Direction in a variety of Opera and Theatre productions across the country. These credits include a Carbonell Award for Best Production (MACK & MABEL), two CARBONELL Award nominations for Best Production (LA CAGE AUX FOLLES and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC), three Regional Premieres (PHANTOM, DROWSY CHAPERONE, POCAHONTAS), two pre-Broadway Productions (MOTOWN, ZERO HOUR) and three world premieres (KNISH ALLEY, FULL CIRCLE, GILGAMESH). Ardean also provided the original Lighting Designs for the cult-favorite musicals RESPECT and MENOPAUSE, THE MUSICAL.
Opera audiences in the Southeast have seen his Scenic Designs for productions of DON GIOVANNI, LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR, THE MERRY WIDOW, L’ELISIR D’AMORE, and LA TRAVIATA as well as his Lighting Designs for productions of CAVALERIA RUSTICA/ I PAGLIACCI, MADAMA BUTTERFLY, THE BARBER OF SEVILLE and RIGOLETTO, to name a few. His experience in Opera extends to Stage Management, Stage Direction and Performance as well. He has been involved with over 60 Opera productions, ranging from Verdi , Wagner and Strauss to Puccini, Donizetti and Mozart. Productions of LA BOHEME, RIGOLETTO, SALOME, DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES, and IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA are among his favorite experiences. He has performed the roles of Nilikanta in LAKME’, Leporello in DON GIOVANNI, Dr. Bartolo in BARBER OF SEVILLE, Dulcamara in L’ELISIR D’AMORE and Papageno in MAGIC FLUTE to name a few. He has also been involved in the Premieres of three new American operas –YOUR’S TRULY, ANNE, Palm Beach Opera’s ENEMIES, A LOVE STORY and this production of NOT IN MY Ardean is excited to return to OPERA FUSION and hope you thoroughly enjoy this performance of an amazing new work!
