Bastille Day Celebration at Norton Museum of Art

On the weekend before the Museum closed for the final phase of construction, there was a celebration of the art and culture of France on Bastille Day. The Museum offered talks in the galleries on French artists and the American artists they inspired; sponsored make your own art, viewed classic French films, and featured performances of French music, all free to the public!  Opera Fusion was invited to participate in the festivities and delighted the capacity audience with a 1-hour program of vocal music about France, including the Marseillaise, a little Edith Piaf and Cole Porter, art songs by Duparc and Ravel, favorite opera selections from the Pearl Fishers, La Boheme, and Lakme, and French inspired musical selections from Gigi and Les Miserables.
